Candy Bars & Lollipops

As we did last year, we have ordered the Candy bars for the team to sell. Your Co-Captain has fronted the cost for these so there is no cost up front for you. You are resposible for the candy bars you take however and you need to make sure you get the money back to us so we can add it under your name on the website and give Colleen back her money.

This year Colleen has expanded our fundraising possibilities and has ordered us Lollipops. This is an easy sell as they are 2 for $1! Let us know if you would like these as well. We should have them soon, and again these come at no cost up front to you, Colleen has paid for these as well!

Please watch for more Fundraising ideas and opprotunities as TIffany and Colleen are always looking for some way for us to reach our $10,000.00 goal.

WE WILL DO IT!! Thank you for your continued support.

Awards night 2010

As many of you may have seen on facebook Mary and I attended the 2010 awards event last night. When I received the letter a few weeks ago, I thought, oh this would be a fun thing to go to and left it at that. Last week I received an email from Briana, the campaign manager from Light the Night making sure I would be attending. I figured I better make sure I was there since she went through the trouble of making sure I was able to come.
Mary and I were just looking forward to a nice night together as friends with a lot of other people who wanted to fight for the same thing we have been fighting for, for nearly 5 years now. Most of you may not know this but Mary and I started this whole mess 5 years ago when we walked with some friends to honor a friend who was fighting Leukemia. Never did I think this would turn into something so much closer to home.
Mary and I were one of the first groups to arrive for the ceremony. We got our food sat down and started chatting. Briana approached us, thanked us for coming and told us to sit close to an aisle sit as we would be coming to the front for a surprise. This obviously excited us.
Most of you have probably never been to an event other than the walk. Let me fill you in a little... They are always a lot of fun, I am always amazed at what people are doing for fund-raising, and they are always very emotional. Mary and I always say we are not going to cry, yet we always do because it is such a powerful thing to be a part of Light the Night.
As they announced awards for this and that we were excited to see what the other teams and individuals had done. When they got to the section of award for the top five "friend and family Teams" Mary and I teared up a bit because sitting in spot number four was FOR THE LOVE OF BOB! We instantly grabbed each others hands and did a little cheer that no one else could hear. When they called our team name, we went up, accepted the award, got our picture taken, and thanked them for acknowledging the hard work we all did. The finished talking about the other three teams who beat us, which I have to say wasn't by much. Briana then started talking about teams growing and really changing their fund-raising and taking off in it. She then said they had an award for team who gained the most in their fund-raising from last year. Mary playfully leaned over and sad, "think its us? we started this walk with $50!" We almost died when the slide came up and there was FOR THE LOVE OF BOB! AGAIN! on the screen! I was SHOCKED! Our team grew 89%!
With this all being said, I have to thank every person who went out and sold candy, raised money through online donations, went door to door collecting money, and whatever other tactics you used to raise money. But a HUGE thank you goes to my Mother, Colleen, for her amazing ability to get stores to fund-raise for us, doing raffles, and just kicking butt and everything she did for this team. Mom you are an amazing women and I am so happy to say we are co-captains for the light the night FOR THE LOVE OF BOB team!

planning for 2011 aldready

With the great success of this years walk but the stress which came along with it as wekl, us captains, Colleen and Tiffany have decided the easiest and best way to get information out to all of the team members is to do this. We will be posting fundraising events and other important details.
Looking ahead to next year we have lots of things planned and we ask that EVERY person who signs up for the team takes part in some form of fundraising so we are able to meet our goal.
